HOW TO APPLY

2024 Summer Shakespeare Intensives:

4-Week Session 1: June 17 – July 13, 2024
4-Week Session 2: July 1 – July 27, 2024
6-Week Session: June 17 – July 27, 2024

UK Shakespeare Experience: 9 – 16 June, 2024
Italian Tour: 29 July – 5 August, 2024

The 2024 Summer Shakespeare Intensive will offer participants two tracks, one for emerging newcomers to theater studies and another for advanced students of acting, directing, stage design and management. Advanced students are typically already working professionally and members of professional theatre unions such as Actor’s Equity, British Equity, SAG-AFTRA, etc. and/or also graduates of (or currently enrolled in) MFA theatre programs.  Students may enroll directly in the Emerging Track. Admission to the Advanced Track is by audition or portfolio submission only. 

Email the following materials to training@pragueshakespeare.org:

  • Picture and Resume – All Applicants
  • Note which Intensive session you are applying to and if you also wish to be included on the optional tours to the UK (6-Week, 4-Week Session #1 participants & Intensive Alums only for UK tour) and to Italy (6-Week and 4-Week Session #2 participants only for Italian tour)
  • 150 word personal statement – All Applicants
  • Actors & Directors: Audition in person or via video submission. One two-minute Shakespeare monologue required – Advanced Track Only
  • Designers: Portfolio and/or photos of designs – Advanced Track Only
  • Dramaturgs: Sample writing – Advanced Track Only
  • Stage Managers: Resume and Statement – All Applicants

Accepted Students will be notified no later than one week after submission about decision.

SPECIAL NOTE REGARDING COVID-19: The health and safety of our artists, audiences, faculty, students and team members is the first priority for Prague Shakespeare Company. We will take all recommended precautions necessary for safe participation in our Shakespeare Intensives, including but not limited to providing masks and hand-sanitizer to all faculty and participants as well as antigen testing and temperature checks before classes, rehearsals and performances, if needed.  In light of the COVID-19, participants in all Intensives must provide proof of vaccination. We thank you for your patience and understanding and look forward to working with you online and in person when you come to Prague.
