Welcome to Karlovec, a small town in the Czech Republic that the Soviets had started to build a nuclear plant in, but it was never completed. Now in the post-Soviet era Western firms are desperate to take over and build the plant. They turn their attention to the town’s new idealistic mayor who finds himself courted on all sides and who must weigh the safety of his people against the alluring promise of economic prosperity. Guilty secrets, lies exposed, counterfeit identities, betrayal and games of deceit collide in this funny and devastating play.

Good intentions collide with absurd assumptions in Larissa FastHorse’s wickedly funny satire, as a troupe of terminally “woke” teaching artists scrambles to create a Thanksgiving Day pageant that somehow manages to celebrate both Turkey Day and Native American Heritage Month. Directed by Josh Morrison and starring Jenn Kirk, Genevieve Gionet, Scott Sophos, and Pavel Caldr.

THE BOOK OF WILL (Czech Republic Premiere)
by Lauren Gunderson

28 December at 19:00 – FREE TO THE PUBLIC
Divadlo Na Pradle
Without William Shakespeare, we wouldn’t have literary masterpieces like Romeo and Juliet. But without Henry Condell and John Heminges, we would have lost half of Shakespeare’s plays forever! After the death of their friend and mentor, the two actors are determined to compile the First Folio and preserve the words that shaped their lives. They’ll just have to borrow, beg, and band together to get it done. Amidst the noise and color of Elizabethan London, THE BOOK OF WILL finds an unforgettable true story of love, loss, and laughter, and sheds new light on a man you may think you know. Directed by Jennifer Le Blanc. Stage Management by Debs Ramser and Yining Shing, starring Josh Morrison, Peter Hosking, Elissa Levitt, Lindsay Taylor, Ben Bradshaw, Cathy Meils, Renee Lamari, Nico Castillo, Tilly Musser, Tiffany Sui, Eleonora Shafran, with Lisa Wolpe, Guy Roberts, and Jessica Boone.
